Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year at TEAM Charter Academy (TCA)! We hope that you have had an enjoyable summer. It is this time of year that we become energized for the students and staff to return as we continue to make preparations for the upcoming year. The TEAM Charter Academy theme this year will be GO TEAM!

TCA is a  Leader in Me School. The Leader in Me (LIM) consists of the following seven habits: Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand Then to Be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw.  We hope that every individual connected to TCA implements these habits throughout the school year, and beyond. The Habits are posted in our hallways and classrooms. Be sure to check them out when you visit our campus.

Parents and students can stay informed regarding all aspects of TCA by checking out our new website (still under construction) at team-charter.org and liking our TEAM Charter Academy Facebook page.

Student orientation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019. Students will be given their schedules and the administration team will be reviewing this year’s behavior and dress code expectations. We believe that this orientation is vital to the start of a successful school year. Your child should attend at the time designated for his/her appropriate grade level:

TCA STUDENTS MUST ATTEND STUDENT ORIENTATION

  • 6th Grade 9:00am-10:00am
  • 7th Grade  11:00am-12:00am
  • 8th Grade 1:00pm-2:00pm

This year, the daily start time at the middle school will be 8:00 am and conclude at 3:00 pm. Our first day of school is Monday, August 5 and will be a full day for students.  Like last year, the drop-off & pick up will be along the front of the school on Main Street.

I encourage you to attend our annual Back to School Night on, August 15 from 6:00-8: 00 pm. Beginning at 6:00 pm a brief informational presentation by the Director of Educational Programs(including Title I requirements) will be held for all TCA families.  At approximately 6:20 pm, parents and students will be released to rotate through their child’s class schedule, meet the teachers and obtain information about their child’s classes.

We are excited to inform parents that we are now offering Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) at TEAM Charter Academy. The AVID program is a choice option for students who attend TEAM Charter Academy. Please see the attached document for more information on AVID.

Our food services will be operating in full swing on our student’s first day of school. Breakfast will be available starting at 7:30 am.  Information about applying for free and reduced school meals are available online or in our office.

Our student dress code is consistent with last year, with few changes for 2019-2020.  Students will no longer be allowed to wear “hoodies” to school. During, cold weather students may wear a solid colored crewneck sweatshirt or a solid-colored cardigan. Jackets and hats will not be allowed to be worn inside the buildings or classrooms. As a reminder, students are permitted to wear shorts/skirts of appropriate mid-thigh length at least fingertip length. Please help us enforce that all shorts and skirts must be at least fingertip length above the knees and all shirts must cover the shoulders and midriff. All garments must be in good repair and free of holes. We appreciate parents’ help with upholding our dress code.

If you have any questions please contact our office at (209) 425-5200. You may also choose to stop into the office weekdays between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. As a reminder when reporting student absences, all absences for students in grades K-8, need to be reported to attendance@team-charter.org or 209.462.4623 when calling any of the school buildings.

On behalf of the TEAM Charter School staff, welcome to a new school year! We are excited about all of the positive things this year will hold for your students!

Sincerely,

Theresa Johnson (TJ)
